Hello and welcome to Be You Mindful.
I'm Alex and I've been exploring and practising mindfulness for 14 years. I draw on this personal experience combined with formal teacher training (see Qualifications) to offer compassionate and welcoming mindfulness sessions, accessible for all.
I have comprehensive experience running mindfulness groups and 1:1 sessions both online and in person since 2020. Probably around 250-300 sessions to date. I love the creativity of combining mindfulness exercises, poetry and music into themes for each session.
I see mindfulness as one part of a toolkit. It isn't a magic fix, but it can soften our experience of difficulty and give us space to respond to ourselves and others with more compassion. As well as increase our noticing of moments of joy that sometimes get missed.
My teaching is tailored and sensitive to the individuals and groups I work with. Over time I've built particular experience with those with long-term health conditions (especially neurological conditions), women who have experienced sexual violence, adults with learning disabilities and family carers.
When not teaching mindfulness I run a small pet care business (see Weybridge Paws) having left full-time healthcare work as an Occupational Therapist.
I love the flexibility of my lifestyle - it gives me time in nature walking dogs, and space to pursue other interests - I'm also an avid crafter! (Instagram: Alex Sloan Crafts).
In the spirit of Be You Mindful I've found this lifestyle the most fulfilling way of Being Me!
I hope you enjoy looking around this site, and you're very welcome to contact me if you have any questions.
Warm wishes,
Alex.
